You probably wear blue jeans. Most people do. They were created by two men. They were Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss. The year was 1873. In 1885, a new pair of Levi waist overalls cost only $1.25.

The overalls were great for men who worked. The material was denim. It didn't wear out easily. In the 1950s, people called the pants "jeans." In 1960, Levi Strauss & Co. officially used the word jeans for their product.

There are all kinds of jeans. Some are working pants. Some are cowboy pants. Some are "designer" jeans. The last cost more.
